Miami SCORES, Powered by Concacaf is the 13th chapter of the national nonprofit America SCORES which was launched in 2024. As an organization we are committed to inspiring underserved youth to lead healthy lives, be engaged students, and have the confidence and character to make a difference in the world.
We achieve this mission by offering innovative after-school programs that integrates soccer, poetry, and service-learning. Our Partnerships and Development Associate VISTA will play a vital role at Miami SCORES, leading partnership development, communications and two of our key fundraising events, allowing for long-term sustainability. This is an exciting opportunity for a VISTA to be a part of the launch of something very special in Miami, building an organization from the ground up, especially someone who loves soccer, poetry and/or community service and is excited about the opportunity to learn and see first-hand what goes into launching a new nonprofit.
During the year, you will have the opportunity to interact directly with colleagues across the America SCORES network and across the professional soccer landscape (including working out of one of the most well-known soccer organization’s offices), while building your partnership building, development and event planning skillset. If you are someone that is passionate about changing the lives of youth through soccer, creative expression and/or poetry and are a self-starter that enjoys working with a team passionate about making a difference in the lives of Miami youth, this role is for you.
Responsibilities
The VISTA at Miami SCORES will be part of the 2025-26 VISTA cohort. The VISTA placed at Miami SCORES will build the organization’s capacity, specifically related to creating community partnerships and increasing revenue generating activities and events through events and corporate partnerships.
To name a few things, the Miami SCORES Partnerships and Development Associate VISTA would support specifically around :
1) Supporting capacity building and revenue generation activities that increase our capacity to grow, 2) Identifying the right program partners in Miami to allow our program to flourish
3) Developing the right communications and outreach strategy for both volunteer recruitment as well as corporate partnerships
4) Leading the execution of two key corporate fundraising events.
There will be regular opportunities to meet program and corporate partners and conduct site visits at our schools throughout Miami.
Service Year Term: August 11, 2025 - August 10, 2026
Qualifications
• Passion for using sport as a tool to empower and inspire youth
• Ability to commit to minimum of 1,700 hours of service from August 11, 2025 - August 10, 2026
• Some college/or college degree preferred
• Some experience with either soccer, poetry, creative writing or working with youth preferred
• Excellent organizational ability and ability to work well under pressure
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills among diverse constituents
• Dependable, flexible, sense of humor
• Event planning and implementation skills, especially related to youth-focused events
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with community organizations and agencies
• Willingness to adapt and fulfill various roles as needed within the organization.
• Bilingual abilities are a plus (Spanish, Haitian Creole)

• Living Allowance of approximately $25,700/year. You receive a modest bi-weekly living allowance to cover basic expenses. More Information:
• Professional Development Training: You have the opportunity to attend in-person and virtual training to learn how to be a community development change agent.
• Non-Competitive Eligibility: Once you've successfully completed service in AmeriCorps VISTA, you will receive one year of non-competitive eligibility for employment in the federal government. This special hiring status enables you to apply for federal jobs with the advantage of not having to go through the standard public competitive selection process. That means that you can be appointed to federal positions that may not be available to the general public. In addition, your application could be processed faster than others.
• End of Service Award: Members can choose between a (valued at approximately $7,395) to pay for a range of education expenses or a $1,800 cash stipend.
• Federal Loan Forbearance
• $100 Monthly Housing Stipend provided by Miami SCORES (paid directly to landlord)
• Monthly Transportation Stipend (TBD based on candidate’s mode of transport)

With AmeriCorps VISTA, you’ll address community challenges where the need is greatest. - Be 18 years or older (no upper age limit)
- Must be a U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident; Hold one of the following citizenship or legal residency statuses: US citizen, US National, Lawful Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card status), and persons legally residing within a state. Examples of persons legally residing within a state may include those holding the following classifications: refugee, asylee, temporary protected status throughout VISTA service, and holding Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status.
