Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Youth Program Director, the Assistant Site Coordinator is responsible for assisting with daily onsite supervision, program implementation, and youth/staff development. This position is responsible for helping to maintain a safe and welcoming after school site; ensuring high level of program quality that will expose youth to various learning opportunities and working to establish a positive relationship with all program participants and their families. The primary responsibility for this role is to create an academic and enrichment-based program that is compliant with the Youth Development Principles of the YMCA of San Francisco and California State Licensing.
After School Program dates:
- San Francisco ASP sites: must be available to work mid-August 2025 - mid June 2026
Program Support and Leadership
- Help plan and run a strong after-school program that supports learning and fun.
- Assist in managing the daily schedule and keeping the program safe, organized, and welcoming (14:1 student-staff ratio).
- Follow program budget, rules, and funding guidelines.
- Be present and active during program hours.
- Build relationships with families through orientations, events, and regular communication.
- Address parent concerns professionally and involve leadership when needed.
- Work with school staff to align efforts and share resources.
- Attend monthly school site meetings to support planning and evaluation.
- Help schedule academic, enrichment, and recreational activities.
- Track daily attendance, snacks, and paperwork (emergency forms, permission slips, etc.).
- Ensure shared spaces are used respectfully and kept clean.
- Submit timely reports (attendance, snacks, payroll, evaluations).
- Follow all YMCA, school district, and grant guidelines.
- Complete all required YMCA trainings (safety, youth development, etc.).
- Attend all staff meetings, trainings, and development sessions.
- Support hiring, onboarding, and coaching of staff.
- Make sure all staff complete the required training and get
- Take part in YMCA fundraising events like the Annual Giving Campaign.
- Show commitment to youth development and the YMCA mission.
- Grow professionally in leadership, teamwork, operations, and mentoring.
- Ability to engage in physical activities such as standing, walking, sitting, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Work may take place in indoor classrooms, outdoor recreational areas, and hybrid settings.
- Flexibility to adapt to dynamic program needs, including occasional travel between YMCA branches and program sites.
- Must successfully complete a background screening, including criminal and employment verification. Some positions may also require a credit check.

The hourly rate for this position is $23.00 - $25.00 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and alignment with salary benchmarks for similar roles. Compensation is in accordance with grant funding approval and program budget requirements.

- Bachelor's degree in child development, Education, Social Services, or a related field
- Available to work Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend availability
- Minimum of 6 months of supervisory experience in youth programs
- CPR and First Aid certified (YMCA-approved; may be completed upon hire)
- TB test clearance
- Fingerprint/background check clearance
- Experience working in or with San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD)
- Meets Community Care Licensing Teacher Permit level with 12+ ECE units or equivalent coursework/training (must provide transcripts)
- Bilingual in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, or other languages
