Position Overview:
Boyd is seeking a Field Service Engineer for our thermal cooling system service and repair organization. This role consists of providing technical knowledge and administrative support, in-person and over the phone, for diagnosing and repair of Boyd cooling systems. This customer facing position focuses on trouble shooting customer problems, coordinating return of equipment to the service depot and completion of necessary paperwork. This is an exciting position that will be based in Woburn, Massachusetts with potential customer-site travel.
Position Expectations: Willing to travel regionally and occasionally throughout North America with potential international travel. Provide troubleshooting support over the phone for customers and third-party service providers. Maintain meticulous records of field service issues and enter them into the service database. Provide after-hours technical support via company cell phone, on a rotating basis, to our global customer base. Administer the RMA process and report out to customers on status. Prepare and maintain technical documentation library used in the support of Boyd cooling systems. Actively provide design input and customer feedback to quality, manufacturing and design teams. Subject matter expert and mentor for onsite Boyd Field Service Engineers and Boyd Project Managers.
Minimum Qualifications Trade School Certification in HVAC/R Field and/or electronics technology. EPA universal certificate 5+ years of field service experience. 3+ years of working with project teams, contractors and interfacing with customers. Strong mechanical aptitude & understanding of electromechanical systems and Cooling Distribution Units (CDU) Ability to understand customer specifications and application and apply Boyd technology to drive customer solutions. Must have strong hands-on mechanical and electrical skills and demonstrated ability to trouble shoot failure in equipment and sub-systems. Must be self-motivated, a team player, and capable of multi-tasking. Must be customer focused, proactive, organized, and a logical thinker. Experience with Liquid Cooling technologies. Knowledge of PLC function & interfacing (RS485, ethernet, etc.). Ability to lift 50lbs regularly Ability to travel as needed Microsoft Office - Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in related technical field
