Performs magnetic resonance imaging in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization. Responsibilities include charging appropriately for all supplies used for procedure and utilizing appropriate exam codes, reviewing patient history and physician's orders, educating patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation, taking on call shift responsibilities as required by the department, preparing equipment and supplies, selecting appropriate imaging parameters, implementing safety standards and performing appropriate quality control procedures on equipment, troubleshooting, resolving, and/or reporting equipment malfunctions as necessary. When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate. Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s). Analyzes acquisition parameters and resulting sequences and identifies issues with the quality of images. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and/or repeating images/sequences in conjunction with interpreting physicians and standard protocols. Maintains MRI Safety in accordance with safety recommendations outlined by the American College of Radiology and hospital policy. Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. No previous experience required. Must be registered in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or registered as a Technologist (ARMRIT)- Advance Registry MRI Technology within one calendar year of hire. Graduate of an accredited imaging program. Working conditions include various physical demands and exposure to certain hazards as detailed in the job listing. Shift: Evenings. Seniority level
