Summary
Unionville Elementary is seeking a dedicated and adaptable Substitute Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining a positive learning environment and ensuring that students continue to receive quality education in the absence of their regular classroom teacher. This role requires flexibility, strong communication skills, and a passion for fostering student growth and engagement.
Responsibilities
- Implement lesson plans left by the regular teacher and ensure that students understand the material.
- Maintain classroom management and create a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.
- Assist students with their academic needs and provide support as necessary.
- Supervise students during class activities, lunch, and recess to ensure their safety.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet the varying needs of students.
- Report any incidents or issues to the appropriate school personnel.
- Complete any administrative tasks as required, including attendance records and lesson notes.
- Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions as needed.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to different classroom environments and student needs.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
- Ability to work collaboratively with school staff and administration.
- Must pass background checks as required by school policy.
