Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
n**THIS IS AN ON-SITE POSITION in our Lawrenceville, GA facility**
nMechanical Engineer
nThe Mechanical Engineering team at AMW, handle all products from the design phase through production. Members of this team are responsible for machine design and testing as well as assisting all production manufacturing processes. Machine design responsibilities revolve around creating manufacturable solutions and demonstrating that those solutions fulfill the assigned design criteria. Manufacturing process responsibilities involve the continuous planning and implementation of process improvements, and designing various tooling and fixtures to increase the quality and reproducibility of goods produced. The team operates as a single entity, so members are expected to work well together and respect the standards put in place by AMW. Ideal candidates will be eager to learn new skills and open to different methods and processes, welcoming change without reservation.
nResponsibilities:
n- n
- Translate design criteria into functional concepts, prototypes, and product solutions. n
- Create models, drawings, bills of materials, build instructions, and operation manuals for product solutions, in accordance with AMW standards. n
- Determine equipment and material needs for proposed product solutions, set up manufacturing processes, and enter parts and assemblies into the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. n
- Manage the manufacture of prototypes and assist with first article processes. n
- Create product specifications and vet vendors. n
- Plan and run verification and validation testing on designed solutions. n
- Perform DFMEA on proposed product solutions and PFMEA on proposed manufacturing changes. n
- Research various standards, listings, and certifications to ensure product compliance. n
- Create tooling and fixtures, including any supporting documentation required for manufacture, for various machines to improve productivity while increasing safety and quality. n
- Assist with creating work instructions for manufacturing processes throughout the facility. n
- Assist with floor layout and process flow throughout the manufacturing space. n
- Perform process studies and analyze gathered data to identify opportunities for improvement. n
- Collaborate with Quality to implement corrective actions. n
- Make presentations to AMW team members and customers detailing solutions and findings. n
Qualifications:
n- n
- Strong background in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks ) n
- General understanding of manufacturing processes associated with fabrication (experience with laser cutting, bending, welding, machining, and/or CNC programming is a plus) n
- Working knowledge of machine design and finite element analysis principles n
- Working knowledge of fluid dynamics and heat transfer (experience with cooling systems or computational fluid dynamics is a plus) n
- Strong communication skills and a respectful attitude n
- Working knowledge of electromagnetic radiation emission and transmission is a plus n
- Experience with ISO 9001 regulations and maintaining certification is a plus n
