Mechanical Design Engineer - 2-4+ Years of experience

Full-time position--ONSITE

    n
  • Provide mechanical design and development of new products or product enhancements for the automotive service tools industry. 
  • n
  • Prepare thorough and accurate documentation for release to manufacturing and for internal product design records.
  • n
  • Work with manufacturing and service personnel to resolve problems and improve manufacturability and serviceability of products.
  • n
  • Develop or modify manufacturing processes.
  • n
  • Work with other groups on value engineering initiatives to reduce product cost and or improve performance of designs.
  • n
  • Develop an understanding of the company’s products and their applications.
  • n
  • Provide administrative support for engineering computer systems.
  • n

Responsibilities
n
    n
  • Design and develop Special Service Tools in support of customer tool program.
  • n
  • Create 3D Models and 2D Mechanical Drawings (CAD).
  • n
  • Gather tool requirements and application information.
  • n
  • Develop tooling concepts and solutions.
  • n
  • Develop tool mock-ups, prototypes (e.g. 3D printing).
  • n
  • Coordinate with machine shops and other suppliers for prototype fabrication.
  • n
  • Test and validate tools on vehicles or vehicle subsystems.
  • n
  • Document legacy tools where existing documentation is deficient.
  • n

Qualifications
n
    n
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering with a minimum of 2-4+ years’ relative work experience.
  • n
  • Hands-on experience in automotive maintenance and repair is preferred.
  • n
  • Must be proficient in the use of the computer for design. Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD experience is preferred.
  • n
  • Up-to-date knowledge in mechanical design.
  • n
  • Basic understanding of complementary technical disciplines, particularly electrical systems and electrical troubleshooting beneficial. 
  • n
  • Hands-on automotive assembly or repair experience. 
  • n
  • Understanding of engineering principles, machining, injection molding. 
  • n
  • Able to work with others and with minimal supervision.
  • n
  • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • n
  • Must possess good time management and organizational skills.
  • n
  • Must possess good problem solving and analytical skills.
  • n
  • Must be able to demonstrate initiative.
  • n
  • Prefer to have practical experience in manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • n
  • Customer interface experience a plus.
  • n
