JOB SUMMARY: Apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by compiling information and utilizing appropriate accounting control procedures. Analyze and interpret financial information. Prepare financial reports for regulatory agencies and tax authorities. Support mission and vision of Museum throughout performance of duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Create and post journal entries to accounting system, including entries relating to revenue, expenses, and balance sheet items
- Maintain balance sheet schedules, including prepaids, accrued expenses, and deferred revenue
- Analyze sales data from third party software and import sales transactions into accounting system
- Enter bank deposits into the general ledger and prepare monthly bank deposit reconciliation
- Act as back up for full-cycle Accounts Payable (A/P), including reviewing invoices for proper coding, department head approval, and posting date.
- Support yearly audits, working closely with auditors to fulfill Information requests
- Work closely and communicate with other departments for revenue and expense transactions
- Conduct cash handling, including initiating check deposits and handling cash boxes.
- Enter payroll and employee benefit journal entries
- Review vendor statements as received to ensure prompt payment of payables
- Follow up on outstanding Accounts Receivables
- Administer month end close, including, but not limited to, reconciliation of monthly bank statements, credit card processing accounts, and general ledger accounts
- Assist with monthly expense analysis and budget tracking
- Prepare periodic reconciliations and financial reports as needed
- Administer general accounting tasks and any ad-hoc projects
- Follow policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment
- Other duties as assigned
