POSITION DESCRIPTION: The StaffAccountant will be primarily responsible for monitoring the financial statusof all TAY and Housing Programs and funding including but not limited topreparing monthly invoices and performing the related bookkeeping functions,creating a budget for all newly proposed grants, performing forecasting forexisting grants and closely monitoring all aspects of the budget. Additionally,the individual within this role will assist with preparing monthly grantfinancial reports for meetings with program managers and assist with otheraccounting tasks assigned based on department needs.

The StaffAccountant reports to the Fiscal Compliance Supervisor and supports theaccounting department in providing financial reports to managers, board, andother staff members.

This position ishybrid (3 days in office/ 2 days remote).

REQUIREMENTS &QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Priorexperience as Fiscal Compliance Support or the equivalent level of workexperience for a period of at least 2 years
  • Bachelor'sdegree in accounting or 4 years of experience of accounting in a non-profitorganization
  • Experienceand knowledge of GAAP, general ledger, and financial statements
  • Mustbe able to perform complex accounting duties to include maintenance andanalysis of accounting records
  • Knowledgeof fund accounting with related professional experience in this area
  • Knowledgeand experience in accounts receivable and/or accounts payable functions
  • Knowledgeof MIP Fund Accounting system preferred
  • Intermediateto advanced skills in MS Excel
  • CaliforniaDriver's License and Car Insurance required

DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Abilityto analyze current and new grant agreements and reporting requirements.

2. Maintainreconciliation of accounting records with reports to grantors

3. Determine calendar of due dates for invoices,budget amendments, budget modifications and other contractual conditions

4. Prepare and create monthly analysisof grant (prior and/or current) revenues for cost reimbursement contracts.

5. Maintain and update grants schedule forgovernmental and non/governmental grants monthly for distribution to managers and directors.

6. Assistwith grant audits performed by funding agencies.

7. Preparemonthly invoices for all TAY, Housing, andUnaccompanied Children Transitional Foster Care (UC-TFC)programs and follow up with payments.

8. Recordrelated A/R entries into the accounting system.

9. Closelymonitor all grants financial status against the budget

10. Preparemonthly forecasting for all grants.

11. Prepare monthly financial reports for meetings with programmanagers, directors, leadership, and theBoard of Directors, as requested.

12. Createbudgets for newly proposed grants.

13. Createbudget modifications for existing grants if needed.

14. Keep track of all internal and externaldue dates and create and submit reports according to the requirements and priorto the stated due dates.

15. Perform other duties according to departmentand/or agency needs.
