Responsibilities and practice
Dentons US LLP is seeking a mid-level associate to join our sophisticated Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice in our Washington, DC office. Candidates should have 4-6 years of complex litigation experience, excellent academic credentials, and an interest in high-level insurance coverage litigation, dispute analysis, and coverage assessments. Our associates work collaboratively with our partners and clients and are key members of our team. Expected responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Drafting complex case evaluations, pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents
- Working on all aspects of litigation from inception through trial and appeal where relevant
- Conducting legal research and writing memoranda
- Conducting, propounding and responding to discovery (documents, written discovery, depositions)
- Working with clients, witnesses, experts, and other counsel
- Analyzing insurance coverage and extra-contractual disputes, including drafting coverage opinions or other coverage analyses

Pursuant to DC law, the salary range for this position will be $270,000 to $315,000, based on experience. Technical skills
- 4-6 years of complex litigation experience is required
- Experience with insurance coverage litigation is a strong plus, but candidates with complex litigation experience who have an interest in high-level insurance coverage litigation, dispute analysis, and coverage assessments will also be considered
- Interest in emerging risks in insurance and environmental and products liability underlying litigation is required
- Strong writing and case management skills, with appropriate direct experience handling clients and adversaries, and excellent oral advocacy skills
- Federal District Court or Appellate clerkship is a plus
Other requirements
- Must be licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia and be in good standing
- Application must include a law school transcript, at least one writing sample, and a cover letter detailing one's experience or interest in (i) high-level insurance coverage litigation, dispute analysis, and coverage assessments and (ii) emerging risks in insurance and environmental and products liability underlying litigation
