$85,000.00/yr - $115,000.00/yr Are you looking for your next challenging reporting beat?
The Washington Times is seeking an aggressive, experienced reporter to help lead coverage of national and political news. This reporter will cover a wide range of news topics focusing on national and state politics, the U.S. Congress, elections and policy changes. We are looking for a reporter with a keen eye for stories and a flair for vivid, concise and accurate writing. The ideal candidate will be a strong, fast writer who can quickly file news stories to the website and follow through with updates.
The ideal candidate will produce a steady stream of daily and enterprise coverage of national political events, campaigns, trends, issues and personalities and break stories to beat the competition. The candidate must be able to develop sources among lawmakers and their staffs, political parties, lobbying firms and special interest groups. Proven experience filing clean copy that is ready for publication is required. Travel my be required. Occasional evenings, weekends and holidays may be required.
The ideal candidate possesses a Bachelors degree in Journalism, communications or Political Science preferred. Along with 5 plus years of news reporting. Experience covering Washington, D.C., politics or a state government is a plus.
