Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing requirements may be tentatively referred and selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met initial appointment requirements are deemed to have met the basic requirements.
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, per VA Policy.
- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from an approved school.
- Current unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.
- Residency training approved by the VA, leading to eligibility for board certification.
- Residents enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited programs are eligible for appointment as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who must be fully licensed physicians but only appointed on an intermittent or fee basis.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Preferred: Board certification or eligibility in Gastroenterology.
- Physical requirements include light lifting, walking, standing, and other physical and mental capabilities as detailed in the original description.
Duties
- Provide outpatient gastroenterology services, including histories, physicals, screening, and performing endoscopy/colonoscopy procedures.
- Collaborate with supervising physicians in patient care.
- Work schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
