Denver Health & Hospital is currently recruiting for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Infectious Disease Physician who will work for the Department of Medicine and Department of Patient Safety and Quality. The clinical work (0.5 FTE) will be split between inpatient general and orthopedic infectious disease consultative work, outpatient orthopedic infectious disease clinic (half-day per week) and quality and safety efforts focused on medical direction and oversight of the antimicrobial stewardship program in the hospital and ambulatory settings. Eight weeks of attending on the inpatient consult services is required and will be split between orthopedic infectious diseases (5 weeks) and general infectious diseases (3 weeks). The orthopedic infectious disease service is also staffed by an experienced APP, and coverage for inpatient orthopedic infectious diseases will be split with the APP. General ID inpatient consultative work is generally completed in 1-week blocks throughout the year, including supervision of a fellow from the University of Colorado training program and possibly teaching medical residents or students. A half-day of outpatient orthopedic infectious disease work is also required.

The successful candidate will join a clinical division spanning the Public Health Institute at Denver Health and the Department of Medicine, comprising 11 ID physicians.

Regarding the Medical Director of Antimicrobial Stewardship role (0.5 FTE), the candidate will lead the stewardship program (an IDSA Center of Excellence), oversee its direction, work with infectious disease pharmacists to develop projects improving antimicrobial use, and support Denver Health's public health mission. There is potential for increased involvement in Infection Prevention and Hospital Epidemiology. The candidate will report to the director of patient safety and quality and serve as a core member of the Department of Patient Safety and Quality leadership team.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Licensed to practice medicine in Colorado or eligible for licensure.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Infectious Diseases.

*Knowledge of and ability to apply medical principles, procedures, and techniques.
*Interest and experience in antimicrobial stewardship.
*Ability to implement evidence-based interventions in hospital and outpatient settings.
*Familiarity with change management, quality improvement, epidemiologic methods, and management of multidrug resistant organisms.
*Academic interest, including research, is preferred.

Education:

Work Details:

Shift: Regular
Salary: $181,400 - $232,300/year
