Job Description
Clinical Pharmacy Specialist Antimicrobial Stewardship/Infectious Disease
- Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.
- Exhibits and conveys the message of the Service Excellence Standards, Value of Caring, Value of the Person, Value of Quality, and the Value of Integrity in every interaction.
- Works as a team member with a positive attitude when interacting with other department employees including pharmacy students and residents in addition to other hospital personnel.
- Knowledgeable in medications and exhibits the clinical and professional skills to positively interact with physicians, nurses, residents, students, and other health care practitioners.
- Knows and follows institutional pharmacy policies and procedures and medication policies and procedures.
- Knows and follows state and federal laws regarding dispensing of medications.
- Accurately interprets and enters medication orders in the computer for drug administration.
- Contacts the provider in a timely manner when there is a concern about a medication order as needed.
- Works primarily in a decentralized model providing comprehensive clinical pharmacy services including but not limited to pharmacokinetics, drug dosing consultations, and adult parenteral nutrition management.
- Provide drug information, drug therapy recommendations, and education to physicians, nurses, patients, pharmacy staff, pharmacy residents and students related to assigned clinical areas.
- Reporting of adverse drug events (ADE) within assigned clinical areas.
- Development of department educational/monitoring tools and in-services to promote continued growth of clinical Pharmacy services and up to date practice as it pertains assigned clinical areas.
- Assist with protocol development as necessary related to assigned clinical areas.
- Participate in hospital committees related to assigned clinical areas where pharmacy involvement is needed.
- Review appropriate use of medications to include optimization of use and cost considerations.
- Contribute to the continued development of the practice of the profession of pharmacy.

Qualifications /Training:
- PGY1, required
- Ability to work independently, required
- Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education:
- Baccalaureate degree or PharmD Degree from an accredited school of pharmacy, required
- Current, unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in the state of South Carolina
