Description
The Medical Director is a multi-functional position encompassing responsibilities in medical leadership, oversight and supervision, client care, and program development. The Medical Director is responsible for ensuring high-quality care and adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing the delivery of residential treatment services for substance use disorder.
Responsibilities
- Provide medical leadership and oversight for residential SUD programs.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding SUD and OUD treatment.
- Ensure patients are evaluated for medical admittance into the substance use disorder treatment program, ancillary withdrawal is managed, and addiction medications are prescribed where appropriate, including methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Provide oversight to the Medical Team.
- Ensure medical policies, procedures, and protocols are developed, approved, reviewed, and updated on time.
- Ensure medical care is integrated with other treatment services.
- Ensure medical records of clients receiving care are reviewed regularly.
- Develop and deliver training programs for staff and community partners on SUD treatment and management.
- Establish and monitor performance metrics for SUD programs to ensure high-quality care.
- Conduct regular audits and evaluations of program effectiveness.
- Implement continuous quality improvement processes.
- Assures coverage without gaps in the facility medical staff on-call system as applicable regulations require.
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Requirements
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
- Board certification in addiction medicine
- Valid medical license to practice in New York
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in addiction medicine or a related field.
- Proven experience in managing SUD programs and prescribing medications for OUD.
- Ability to provide trauma-informed, person-centered care.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in electronic health records and data management.
$400,000 - $400,000 / year dep. on experience
