About the Physician Opportunity
The Primary Care Physician (Intermittent/Schedule Varies) performs specialized treatment of complex physical and/or mental illnesses in inpatient or outpatient clinical settings. Responsibilities include comprehensive assessments and ongoing care of patients' physical and medical needs within the respective service/unit.
The patient population includes male and female Veterans ranging from adults aged 18 to elderly adults aged 65 and over. Age-related and culturally appropriate interventions tailored to the cognitive, physical, and emotional needs of each patient will be employed, incorporating knowledge of aging changes and principles of growth and development. Sheridan VA Healthcare System values patient-family centered care principles. The incumbent must demonstrate excellent customer service in all activities, supporting the mission and vision of the Veteran Health Administration (VHA). Effective communication with individuals of diverse educational and ethnic backgrounds is essential. The focus is on prioritizing Veteran care, demonstrating customer service principles, and working cooperatively as a team member.

About the Sheridan VA Health Care System
Part of the Rocky Mountain Region Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN 19), which includes facilities in Colorado, Oklahoma, Montana, Utah, and Wyoming. The main facility in Sheridan, Wyoming, is a 200-bed medical center serving as the psychiatry tertiary referral site for VISN 19. It offers comprehensive care, including acute inpatient mental health services, residential rehabilitation, outpatient programs, and specialized care for a complex Veteran population. The system includes 20 psychiatric beds, 10 medical beds, 55 extended care beds, 115 mental health residential beds, and a 45-bed Domiciliary Residential Treatment program for homeless Veterans. Additionally, there are five Community Based Outpatient Clinics in Casper, Riverton, Cody, Gillette, and Rock Springs, along with Telehealth Outreach Clinics in Worland and Evanston, and an Outreach Clinic in Afton, Wyoming.
