About the Physician Opportunity
The Primary Care Physician (Intermittent/Schedule Varies) performs specialized treatment of complex physical and/or mental illnesses in inpatient or outpatient clinical settings. Responsibilities include comprehensive assessments and ongoing care of patients' physical and medical needs within the respective service/unit.
The patient population includes male and female Veterans ranging from adults aged 18 to elderly adults over 65. Age-appropriate and culturally sensitive interventions tailored to cognitive, physical, and emotional needs will be employed, incorporating knowledge of aging changes and principles of growth and development. Sheridan VA Healthcare System embraces patient-family centered care principles. The incumbent practices excellent customer service in all activities, supporting the mission and vision of the Veteran Health Administration (VHA). Effective communication with individuals of varied educational and ethnic backgrounds is essential. The provider prioritizes Veteran care and demonstrates customer service principles consistently. Willingness to work cooperatively as part of a team is required.

About the Sheridan VA Health Care System
Part of the Rocky Mountain Region Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN 19), which includes facilities in Colorado, Oklahoma, Montana, Utah, and Wyoming. The main facility in Sheridan, Wyoming, is a 200-bed medical center serving as the psychiatry tertiary referral site for VISN 19. We provide comprehensive care, from acute inpatient mental health services to residential rehabilitation and outpatient programs, serving a complex Veteran population. Our bed capacity includes 20 psychiatric, 10 medical, 55 extended care, 115 mental health residential beds, and a 45-bed Domiciliary Residential Treatment program for homeless Veterans. We operate five Community Based Outpatient Clinics in Casper, Riverton, Cody, Gillette, and Rock Springs, with additional Telehealth Outreach Clinics in Worland and Evanston, and an Outreach Clinic in Afton, Wyoming.
