Job Description
Reporting directly to the
Director of Estimating,
the
Dry Utility Estimator
will play a key role in the expansion of the dry utility division by preparing accurate and strategic cost proposals focused on exterior duct banks, telecom infrastructure, conduit systems, and associated scopes.
Primary Responsibilities:
Review and interpret plans, specifications, and scope documents Perform quantity take-offs using
PlanSwift
and translate to detailed pricing using
Excel
and
InEight Draft and submit RFIs for scope clarification and ensure complete, high-quality bids Prepare and format proposals using prebuilt Excel templates for submission Solicit and evaluate vendor/supplier quotes and subcontractor pricing Identify self-perform opportunities and ensure alignment with client/project requirements Understand production-based bidding and various installation methods for duct banks and dry utility systems Prepare budgetary estimates from conceptual designs when full plans aren't available Participate in handoffs and proposal revisions to build strong client partnerships MPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law. The Successful Applicant
The ideal candidate is analytical, technically savvy, and thrives in an estimator-focused role without distractions from project management. You'll have a deep understanding of dry utility installation methods and a drive to win competitive bids that lead to long-term work.
Must-Haves:
2+ years
of experience in dry utility or civil estimating (senior candidates welcome too) Proven experience estimating
base building exterior duct banks
and infrastructure projects Familiarity with
primary and secondary systems, handholes, cast-in-place vaults , and telecom/electrical conduit specs Ability to create budgetary proposals with limited or conceptual plans Working knowledge of dry utility scopes including
telecom, gas, electric, fiber, HDD (horizontal directional drilling) Strong math and Excel skills, plus experience with
Bluebeam, PlanSwift, InEight Understanding of
production-based bidding
(non-negotiable) What's on Offer
Base Salary:
$80,000+ based on experience Performance Bonus:
Up to 15%, paid annually (must be hired before October 15 to qualify for year-one bonus) 401(k):
