Position Summary
The Custodian performs a variety of duties designed to keep the building and premises in a clean, orderly and well-maintained condition. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clean campus buildings and facilities. Maintain and restock building supplies such as toilet paper and soap in restrooms. Maintain custodial supplies and equipment, and inform management when supplies need to be ordered. Assist with special events, including setting up and breaking down. In order to perform these essential functions, the Custodian must be present at work. Therefore, attendance is an essential function. Qualifications
High School diploma or GED preferred. One year of previous custodial experience preferred. Should have knowledge and skill in the use of cleaning chemicals, the use of floor machines for cleaning, and the use of hand tools for basic maintenance tasks. Must have the reading ability and verbal and written communication skills required to receive and provide information regarding job tasks, instructions, and report to supervisors. Must be able to perform basic arithmetic to determine the amounts needed of supplies. Must be able to work nonstandard hours to assist with special events when required. Sick Leave All regular full-time non-instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is the equivalent of 8 hours of sick leave per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Upon retirement, employees are allowed to convert unused sick time into service time for the purpose of retirement.
