Maintenance Mechanic

12:30pm - 9:00pm Mon. - Fri. Every Other Sun. 11:30am - 8:00pm

Job Summary:
To perform routine maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting on Material handling equipment. Maintain and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems on all MHE. Other responsibilities will include basic equipment and facility repair.
Job Functions:
Report to Facilities Maintenance Manager to receive day's assignments Perform routine, emergency and preventative maintenance on MHE Interpret manufacturer's technical manuals to perform the necessary maintenance and repairs needed. Troubleshoot MHE problems to include brake, electrical and hydraulic systems, detect imperfections, potential problems, safety issues and/or malfunctions. Able to diagnose and repair mast and attachment components. Good working knowledge of brake systems and tire/wheel changes. Replace broken or defective parts from stock parts and/or order replacement parts for major repairs. Reassemble MHE and make all necessary adjustments for effective and safe operation Perform safety inspection of forklifts prior to being released back to the work floor. Cleaning of equipment and other areas as required. Ensure work areas and methods used in carrying out job duties meet safety requirements. Maintain an organized and neat work area. Competent to complete legible service documents and logs for preventative maintenance tasks. Learn new technical information and techniques to stay current with changing technology. Assist with morning equipment set up in cut shop. Implement and maintain preventive maintenance on all equipment and machinery within the facility as noted in the equipment manufacturer's guidelines. Ensure safety procedures are in use consistently. (Lock out, tag out, etc.) Building maintenance and lighting (plumbing repair such as open clogged drains, fix leaks and other simple plumbing jobs; change lamps & ballasts, light remodeling, refrigeration systems, etc.) Complete other duties as assigned
Other Functions and Responsibilities:
Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form Demonstrate proper operation of equipment and tools as needed to ensure employee safety and compliance of all OSHA guidelines To give a written report of unsafe conditions or unsafe acts to management To report all accidents, injuries or illnesses to Facility Manager or Director of Operations immediately Must be able to perform simple tasks independently after being given specific instructions Must possess own set of tools to perform job and have general knowledge of equipment and tools used in the building trades Must be able to deal with difficult situations, resolve issues and concerns in a professional manner Must be will and able to work a changing work schedule and weekends Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices
Experience Preferred:
Two or more years of experience in a related field, including maintenance of various MHE Manufacturing, automotive, military or recent trade school graduates with applied skills. Solid foundation of mechanical aptitude and ability along with knowledge of industrial electricity up to 440 volts would be preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED 1-2 years experience in facility maintenance 1-2 years experience in preventive equipment maintenance Physical Demands and Work Environment
Physical strength and stamina to lift and maneuver objects up to 100 pounds Able to stand, crouch, stoop, and climb for repairs, use ladders and perform various types of manual labor Color vision is required Ability to touch, feel, manipulate fingers and limbs to operate various processing and material handling equipment is necessary Ability to smell is required, in order to detect levels of wholesomeness and spoilage
