OVERVIEW
The Employment Specialist will be responsible for supporting clients of organization's vocational services and veteran outreach programs through successful attainment and retention of competitive and independent employment opportunities in the community. The Employment Specialist will also be responsible, as assigned, to provide extended services to clients who have gained and retain community employment. Maintains case files, progress notes, vocational rehabilitation (VR) reports, and necessary support documentation for all clients. Position may from time to time be stressful and require a high demand of performance. May perform other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Identifies potential employers in the community for youth and adults with a disability or veterans
Assists clients with assessment of abilities for appropriate employment
Assists clients in obtaining employment
Assists in one-on-one and group training to prepare job seekers for competitive employment
Provides needed job coaching, to be determined on individual basis
May conduct task analysis, arranging tasks into sequential teachable components
In a work setting, monitors and teaches work related skills and behaviors such as appropriate communication, on-task behavior, grooming, appropriate social interactions; identifies employer or client concerns and tries to resolve potential issues without intruding on the employer/supervisor relationships; ensures tasks are completed according to established standards of employment
Maintains contact with employer and employee to ensure job success
Liaises with clients served, families, employers, and any other parties to remove all barriers to successful competitive employment and continued employment
Develops appropriate records and completes all documentation as required by funding agency and organization
Provides clients with transportation during assessment and job development, as necessary
Assures adherence with all organization safety policies and procedures
Travels to client worksites and accesses varying workspaces, as necessary
Reports client statuses to supervisor regularly
Completes and submits all required reporting forms, including hours worked through electronic timekeeping system, in a timely manner
Participates in staffing with referral counselors or other professionals providing services
May drive agency or personal vehicle on company business
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Suitable work experience may be considered as transferable skills in order to meet minimum requirements of the position and will be considered by the Executive Director of Human Resources.
High School Diploma or GED
2 years of experience working with individuals with a disability and/or veterans
1 year of experience in employment services, job development, and/or work training
Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule based on program and program participant needs; schedule may include working some evenings, weekends, or holidays
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Position is on-site
Work may be performed outdoors year-round and contain exposure to high heat, wind, rain, etc.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
Requires constant experience with competing priorities in an occasionally high-stress environment
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking and reporting
REGULATORY
Must be at least 18 years of age
Valid driver license, proof of insurance, and 39-month motor vehicle report
Ability to obtain and maintain Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card and FBI National Criminal Records History Report (employer paid)
Pass pre-employment drug screen (incudes marijuana, regardless of recreational use laws) (employer paid)
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's Degree or other post-secondary education
Experience in sales or marketing
Additional years of directly related experience
Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP)
