FULL TIME TITLE : Migrant Education Program Recruiter QUALIFICATIONS:
Two Year Degree or 48 semester hours of college level work (preferred) Bilingual (English/Spanish) Valid NC Driver License and reliable transportation Thorough knowledge of the geographic area Willingness to work irregular hours REPORTS TO:
Director of Federal Programs and Director of Title III, World Languages,and Policy TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve-month work year STARTING SALARY AND/OR GRADE: TBD EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board and local policy on evaluation of personnel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This list of statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this job. This is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties required of personnel so employed. 1. Understand all federal regulations pertaining to the Migrant Education Program 2. Attend all trainings for recruiters and data entry clerks 3. Identify and recruit migrant students using various manners that include but are not limited to occupational surveys, MSIX, canvassing targeted areas, contacting local farms and businesses, and DPI reporting 4. Collaborate with school staff to maintain appropriate records of migrant students 5. Serve as a liaison between home and school; continually striving to maintain positive communication with migrant families 6. Provide supportive services to migrant youth and families as necessary to enable migrant youth to receive a sound education 7. Maintain records and transmit all pertinent information to NCDPI in a timely and accurate manner 8. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
PHYSICAL AND COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS: The major physical and cognitive requirements listed are applicable to the Migrant Recruiter job classification within Wayne County Public Schools. Work in this classification is considered light physical work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Operate a variety of equipment including computers, copiers, projectors Operate a motor vehicle Listen and communicate effectively in order to gather, convey or exchange information, including giving instructions, assignments or directions Respond appropriately to inquiries or complaints Use tact and courtesy when working and dealing with community Read, comprehend, and prepare various kinds of communication and information including emails, correspondence, reports, articles, spreadsheets, staff development plans, educational forms and data Write using prescribed formats and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style Speak before groups of people with poise, voice control and confidence Apply principles of logical, critical, creative or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Demonstrate and apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instruction and to make simple decisions Interpret, infer, analyze, synthesize, and evaluate materials, resources, situations and problems to generate options and solutions Interpret and carry out oral and/or written instructions Demonstrate continued professional curiosity and growth Communicate effectively and efficiently in a variety of settings, using appropriate terminology and by telephone and email Hear, speak, read, record, and explain information, communication, and procedures Deal fairly with people beyond giving and receiving instructions The work environment characteristics described above are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
