Summary
This is a public contact, customer service, maintenance, grounds, and custodial service position. Employees in this position are responsible for activities that are involved in the smooth running of a county fairground. They also perform building, equipment, and grounds maintenance and custodial duties to keep the fairgrounds properly cleaned and maintained. This position is under the general supervision of the Building Maintenance Director and/or his/her designee.

Prepares for all events Performs all client set-up requests (e.g., stage placement, set-up and tear-down, reset, audio/visual equipment, furnishings). Compile and maintain inventory of all furnishings and equipment prior to and immediately following events. Perform cleaning duties and maintenance for all assigned areas including building interiors (e.g., office spaces/hallways, bathrooms, flooring, furniture), trash disposals, window and entrance exteriors and interiors, and equipment/machinery. Perform assembly, painting, and transportation of various surfaces and furniture for events by use of large equipment. Secure all fairground and event buildings, facilities, and grounds when not in use. Operate a variety of non CDL regulated trucks, construction equipment (light and medium), maintenance machinery, for projects. Operate machinery and equipment in a safe manner to process, move, load, and store items as directed. Operate machinery and equipment to construct and/ or maintain arena and on-site roads as directed. Attach accessories properly to equipment as needed. Perform daily maintenance and safety checks on assigned equipment and/or vehicles, to include checking fluid levels, lubrication, fuel and tire repair Maintain accurate vehicle and equipment maintenance records. Communicate potential hazards to the public to Fairground Coordinator. Assist in maintaining a clean shop. Attend training needed to perform the functions of the job such as mine safety training, OSHA, Hazmat. First Aid/ CPR, Defensive Driving Perform manual labor in clearing ditches, hand loading equipment and tools, uses shovels, wrenches, and other tools to achieve tasks. Assist in other areas of the department as needed. Maintains awareness of safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment including properly wearing and using personal safety equipment. Respond to change productively and complete other tasks as assigned. Maintains, repairs, and services department vehicles, equipment, and facilities
Perform maintenance and safety checks on assigned equipment and/or vehicles, to include checking fluid levels, lubrication, and fueling and tire repair; complete necessary documentation and maintain maintenance/service records as required for maintenance activities, equipment, and vehicles. Maintain cleanliness of department breakrooms and bathrooms. 25%
Maintains all fairgrounds, fairground buildings, equipment, and associated items
Perform repairs, general and preventative maintenance, replacement, or fabrication of all necessary plumbing and electrical fixtures/fittings, building parts, or equipment/machinery. Operate power equipment (e.g., saws, drill presses, sanders, tractors, mowers, skid steers, forklifts, implements). Conduct routine inspections of facilities, grounds, and equipment; conduct replacements as needed. Perform various grounds maintenance (e.g., mowing, weed control, snow removal, de-icing). Maintain adequate inventory of all custodial and building supplies. Respond to facility maintenance emergencies. 5%

Requirements
QUALIFICATION
Excellent verbal and written English language skills. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, fabrication, and repair skills. Knowledge of animal chutes, stalls, barricades, hydrants, and troughs. Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction, repair, and cleaning of building and equipment. Knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions applicable to building and grounds maintenance work. Ability to follow written instructions on chemical labels and equipment service manuals. Ability to safely operate and maintain various vehicles, equipment, and tools (e.g., forklift, tractor, dump truck, skid loader). Ability to consistently meet or exceed the productivity and quality standards established by the essential functions task list for assigned areas. Certification, License, Registration
