Location:GE Transportation - (A Wabtec Company) - Erie, PA
Qualifications
The technician must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures
Working knowledge of laboratory safety
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks appropriately
A self-starter and self-disciplined in accomplishing tasks can ask questions, find answers
Basic understanding of testing concepts
Hands on mechanical experience and ability to prototype testing procedures
Lifting requirements: lifting
Responsibilities
As a member of the operations team, the Mechanical Testing Technician position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under direct supervision
Prepares material specimens for testing
Performs tests as directed by customer specifications
At times operates under the supervision of a more senior test technician and/or a Department Manager
Gathers and records test data
Collaborate with team to conduct testing, collaborate with engineering teams to develop and refine test procedures
Constructs and maintains various test fixtures and other laboratory equipment to ensure proper working order with little supervision
