District: Indian Springs School District 109 Maintenance Personnel / District 12-month position; 8 hours 12:00 am - 8:00 am

QUALIFICATIONS:

1) High School Diploma or equivalent 2) Ability to read basic operating instructions and write reports. 3) Must possess English language skills for effective communication. 4) Demonstrate aptitude for successful completion of the tasks assigned. 5) Shall be skilled in one or more of the following trades: carpentry, plumbing (licensed), electrical, HVAC, and/or masonry. Minimum of three years experience preferred. 6) Possess a strong awareness of safety, for self and others.

CERTIFICATION: Must have a valid driver's license

REPORTS TO: Director of Maintenance and Operations

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1) Performs the following related to carpentry: a. Build forms for concrete work. b. Build partition walls, install paneling, install doors and associated hardware, windows, and interior, as well as, exterior trim. c. Lay floor tile.

2) Perform the following grounds work: a. Repair fences, paint, etc. b. Prepare the playing fields, grounds and other necessary facilities for athletics and other school activities c. Plow snow. d. Patch and repair of driveways, playgrounds, and walks; blacktop and gravel. e. Maintain all buildings and grounds as to cleanliness and safety.

3) Perform the following related to electrical work: a. Install and replace electrical fixtures and related equipment. b. Install ballasts. c. Replace electric motors and circulating pumps. d. Replace switches, lights, receptacles, univent controls, etc. e. Fluorescent mercury vapor and incandescent fixtures.

4) Perform the following related to plumbing work: a. Replace faucets, flush valves, traps and drains. b. Install new sinks, lavatories, stools and drinking fountains. c. Replace water lines, valves and pumps. d. New installation of water lines and fixtures.

5) Perform the following related to cement work: a. Pour sidewalks and playground areas. b. Pour driveways, floors. c. Repair work on block, brick, etc.

6) Perform the following related to HVAC work: a. Learn the heating/cooling plant operation in all buildings. b. Perform repairs and preventative maintenance work on all HVAC equipment. c. Learn to operate the building automation system.

7) Operate, maintain, and repair all District equipment/vehicles.

8) Responsible for burglar and maintenance calls after school hours. Check on a regular basis all security precautions.

9) Position requires the ability to use a variety of tools, both manual and power.

10) Position requires frequent heavy lifting and substantial physical outdoor work including under adverse weather conditions.

11) Position requires bending and climbing.

12) Position requires continuous standing.

13) Periodic inspections of all buildings and grounds. Identify and remove present and potential safety hazards.

14) Responsible for working with all District personnel to provide a harmonious operation of the School District.

15) Perform any/all other duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance & Operations.

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.

SALARY: In accordance with the Negotiated Agreement between the Indian Springs School District #109 Board of Education and the Indian Springs School District #109 Custodian Council, West Suburban Teachers Union Local #571, IFT/AFT, AFL-CIO.
