Mechanical Maintenance Technician
OpSource has partnered with one of North America’s largest flexible packaging companies, located in Spartanburg, SC. We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician.
Summary:
The position of Maintenance Technician is primarily responsible for safe and efficient creation of new equipment or repair to old equipment, utilizing a cornucopia of maintenance knowledge. They also must be functional in the electrical and control aspects of maintenance.
Pay for the position:
$28/hr.
Shifts for the position:
This position can either be 2nd or 3rd shift, and you will need to be willing and able to work 12-hour shifts when needed.
On short notice, employee may be requested to work additional hours to fill in for absent co-worker, accommodate a heavier than normal workload, or assist with special projects
Job requirements for the position may include:
Supports all activities in developing, implementing, and maintaining quality and food safety management system
Report any quality and/or food safety problems to personnel of authority to initiate action
Perform routine maintenance tasks on extrusion machinery, including inspection, cleaning, lubrication, and calibration.
Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance activities to prevent unplanned downtime and maintain equipment performance.
Identify and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and operational issues in a timely manner.
Execute repairs and replacements of faulty components, collaborating with team members as needed.
Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, malfunctions, or emergencies to minimize production disruptions.
Implement rapid solutions to restore functionality and prevent further issues.
Possess a strong understanding of extrusion equipment, mechanical systems, and electrical controls
Comply with all company safety and work rules
Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams to facilitate repairs.
Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies needed for maintenance activities.
Coordinate with accurately record maintenance activities, repairs, and parts replacements in logs and maintenance management systems.
Participate in identifying process enhancements and efficiency improvements, contributing to the optimization of maintenance practices.
Collaborate with production teams and other maintenance staff to share insights and ensure seamless communication.
Maintain and service or assist in maintaining and servicing all process equipment, and associated equipment in all departments of the plant
Respond to troubleshoot, repair or improve individual machines and mechanical, electrical power, and control systems
Perform repairs and provide preventative maintenance on production and non-production equipment as directed
Work with maintenance management to continuously improve plant operations, maintenance or preventative maintenance procedures
Correctly operate, maintain, and use equipment and tools required for assigned fabrication and maintenance duties
Operate forklift, bucket lift, scissor lift, etc.
Qualifications for the position:
Professional background
Minimum 3 years maintenance & preventative maintenance experience in manufacturing operation.
Professional competencies
Basic understanding and ability to repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry and mechanical systems
HVAC, EPA and/or CPO certifications may be required
Experience and knowledge of safety procedures including but not limited to: Lock-Tag-Try and Zero Energy State (ZES) procedures, electrical hazards, thermal and chemical hazards
Soft skills
Excellent mechanical/electrical comprehension/ability
Good organizational skills
Must have own tools
Ensure all materials and tools are properly used and returned to proper storage
Consistent punctuality and attendance
Occasionally lift above head
Frequently lift from floor level, lift to arm level, and reach to floor level
Frequently reaching over 18”
Frequently reach above or below shoulder
Ability to distinguish colors (i.e. wire codes)
Tolerance of varying environmental conditions
Tolerance of wet, slippery conditions
Ability to workday/night shifts, or rotations, if applicable
Ability to work 12-hour shift (7PM – 7AM, 4 on/4 off), weekend and holiday work as required
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Must be able to read, write and understand simple and concise instructions and information in English.
Must be able to carry on a conversation and communicate various matters and technical information in English.
