Company DescriptionHistory of Alconex Specialty Products, Inc.
Founded in 1987, Alconex Magnet Wire is based on a unique manufacturing process called continuous extrusion. Alconex started as an aluminum magnet wire supplier located in Fort Wayne, Indiana, beginning operations with one bare aluminum line, one wrapped aluminum line, and three employees. In these early years, Alconex primarily served the dry-type transformer industry. This is a small drop in the bucket compared to where we are today.
In 2007, Alconex formed an internal insulation fabrication division to fabricate electrical insulations to meet internal wire wrapping needs. Today, Pro-Slitters (an Alconex owned company) not only produces cops of electrical insulations for Alconex to use in wrapping wire, but also converts layer and tape products for external customers.
In 2010, Alconex developed two new electrical insulation products, ALCONEX GOLD® for the dry-type transformer and motor industries, and ALCONEX WHITE® for the fluid-filled transformer industry. These films were developed to increase properties of customer units and increase efficiencies while decreasing both cost and size. In 2014, ALCONEX GOLD® received a UL File containing a Low Voltage System and a Medium/High Voltage System.
In 2017, Alconex began construction on a new facility in Fort Wayne, Indiana, off Chalfant Road. This was necessary due to growing business with our existing partners as well as taking on new business relationships. In 2019, this facility has now become our Global Headquarters. The new facility has 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space, home to numerous extrusion and wrap lines manufacturing aluminum and copper magnet wire, extrusions, buss bar, and tubing products.
Alconex remains a major supplier to the dry-type transformer industry, and is also a major supplier in the fluid-filled transformer industry, motor industry, as well as the generator and separator industries. We continue to work and develop products specific to our customer’s needs, wants, and expectations. All Alconex products are manufactured in Fort Wayne, Indiana, U.S.A. and supplied to customers worldwide. We are known for our high-quality products, our commitment to product development, our flexibility, and our attentiveness to customer needs.Company DescriptionHistory of Alconex Specialty Products, Inc.\r\n\r\nFounded in 1987, Alconex Magnet Wire is based on a unique manufacturing process called continuous extrusion.
