About the Role
Join our maintenance team as a
Mechanical Maintenance Technician
and keep our Cleveland Rolling operations running strong. You'll be a key part of the crew-leading safety efforts, driving continuous improvement, and working closely with your team to maintain and repair equipment. You'll handle preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and support of systems such as hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication, overhead cranes, gearboxes, rolls, and power transmission. You'll also collaborate with Electrical Maintenance Technicians and take on additional assignments as needed.
Schedule:
Day Shift
- 12-hour shifts on a 5-2-2-5 rotation
What You'll Do Perform PMs, troubleshoot, inspect, calibrate, and repair plant equipment.
Diagnose issues using test results, operator feedback, and equipment data.
Operate mobile equipment (forklifts, cranes, aerial lifts) safely.
Support inventory accuracy and create new parts using machining tools.
Maintain safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Physical Requirements
Frequent standing/walking, occasional sitting, climbing, carrying, and overhead work.
Lift up to 35 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
Work in varied mill environments-heat, cold, dirt, grease, and heights.
What You Need
High School Diploma or GED
or enroll in our free GED program .
3+ years of industrial maintenance or equivalent experience.
Skills in machining, welding, hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication, plumbing, power transmission, and basic electrical work.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.
Experience with overhead cranes, rigging, and lifting procedures.
Safe operation of forklifts, cranes, and aerial lifts.
Proficiency with precision tools (micrometers, calipers) and technical manuals.
Strong safety practices (lockout, fall protection, confined space).
Computer skills for work orders and email.
Basic math, reading, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work in a team and follow/give instructions.
Nice to Have
Journeyman Certification or completed apprenticeship.
Welding (SMAW, MIG, TIG) and fabrication experience.
Steel industry background.
Basic knowledge of electrical drives.
Strong communication and safety awareness.
