The Human Resources Generalist at MBL functions as a strategic and operational HR partner, managing the full spectrum of human resources responsibilities as a solo practitioner within the department. This role requires an experienced, proactive HR professional who can execute core functions with precision while engaging collaboratively with firm leadership. Areas of ownership include talent acquisition, employee relations, compliance, benefits administration, performance management, and HR policy execution. This position demands exceptional communication skills, strong judgment, and the ability to balance both strategic priorities and tactical tasks in a fast-paced professional services environment.EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (required) PHR or SHRM-CP certification (preferred) EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 4-5 years of experience in an HR generalist or HR business partner capacity Proven ability to operate autonomously and lead HR functions independently Experience in legal, consulting, or similarly structured professional environments (preferred) Proficiency with HRIS platforms, timekeeping systems, and regulatory compliance ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Successful completion of a comprehensive background check, as required by the firm or its clients CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Talent Acquisition Review and refine job descriptions for accuracy, compliance, and clarity Draft and publish postings to attract qualified, mission-aligned candidates Lead the end-to-end recruitment process, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding Use structured interview protocols and document candidate evaluations thoroughly Provide weekly status reports on recruitment efforts to leadership Communicate hiring decisions promptly and ensure applicant closure within 24 hours of decision 2. Employee Relations Serve as an impartial resource for employees and managers, facilitating resolution of workplace concerns Guide and document performance discussions, coaching efforts, and formal corrective actions Conduct exit interviews and oversee all offboarding logistics Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism in all employee interactions 3. HR Operations & Compliance Maintain comprehensive and compliant employee records Oversee timely and accurate payroll processing and time tracking Administer employee benefit programs (health, 401(k), FSA, etc.) Monitor and manage compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws Finalize, implement, and maintain SOPs and HR policies, utilizing the current SharePoint dashboard 4. Leadership Engagement Serve as a strategic HR liaison to firm leadership, including regular communication with Kaitlyn and executive partners Proactively identify and communicate emerging HR issues and recommend mitigation strategies Represent the HR function in leadership discussions and provide relevant insights that support broader firm goals CORE COMPETENCIES & KNOWLEDGE Employment Law & Compliance:
Practical knowledge of FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEOC, HIPAA, COBRA, and state-specific labor regulations Benefits & Leave Management:
Competency in administering health, retirement, and leave programs Conflict Resolution & Coaching:
Strong interpersonal skills to resolve issues and coach for performance HRIS & Data Integrity:
Proficient in managing sensitive HR data with accuracy and discretion Cultural Stewardship:
