Position Title
Estimator
Reports To Director of Projects
Job Overview bo-mar Industries is in search of an Estimator. This position will be responsible for the creation of cost estimates and project timelines from architectural and mechanical drawings for our fabrication shop in Beech Grove, Indiana. This will include duties pertaining to metal fabrication and may include field measurements, site visits, and direct collaboration with our customers. Designs will span across multiple industries: manufacturing, industrial, construction, and architectural. Responsibilities and Duties
Analyze and review required specifications, procedures, documents, drawings, and project-specific plans to gain a thorough understanding of the project and customer's needs.
Prepare material and labor cost estimates for the project utilizing lasers, waterjets, press brakes, CNC machining, and welding.
Integrate vendor items and other non-metallic materials (such as lighting, wood, plastics, equipment) into cost estimate, sourcing and pricing those items.
Gather, maintain, and organize all necessary bid documentation including detailed records of price points for various materials from multiple vendors.
Determine what factors of construction will influence the cost of the project.
Create accurate project estimates with all above in mind.
Communicate with contractors, owners, and other interested parties to clarify project details and requirements.
Collaborate with craftsmen on fabrication processes, manufacturing efficiencies, and project improvements
Work with management to improve design processes and efficiencies
Occasional job-site visits for field measurements, client, or construction meetings.
Requirements
Ability to read and comprehend construction plans/blueprints and specifications to develop cost estimates
Strong understanding of commercial construction processes
Familiarity with plan rooms and CAD or 3D modeling is a plus
Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines. Time management is crucial in meeting bid timelines.
Work well in fast-paced, collaborative environment
Excellent communication skills, internal and client-facing. Communication is essential internally, but also externally with contractors, subs, owners, designers, and other interested parties.
Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
Logical, but creative, thinker
Mechanical aptitude a plus
Ready for immediate start a plus
Compensation
Salary commensurate with experience, starting at $70,000
