Under the direction of the Dean, Creative Arts, Design & Media, develops and teaches concepts and strategies for a variety of courses. May require teaching courses at MATC campuses, business, community, other sites, and online during the day, evening, and/or weekend. Related duties include participation in department and advisory meetings, department and college functions, course and curriculum development in both traditional and non-traditional formats, online courses, staff development, conduct open labs (if/when necessary), student advising, student outcome assessment and quality review assessment and implementation, student organization involvement, recruitment and retention of students, and other duties as assigned**. Required to keep current with the latest trends and technologies in discipline.

Plan, develop, and revise a program of instruction, to teach classroom and laboratory courses in interior design. Teaching assignment may include architectural drawing, studio classes in commercial and residential design, textiles, furniture design, and color & light. Candidate must be well-versed in IBC Codes and NKBA Standards. Participation in division and department activities, and other duties as assigned. Proficiency in Autocad and Sketchup are required. Knowledge of Revit and Illustrator are desired but not necessary. Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities Instructional Delivery

Prepare and deliver engaging instruction in accordance with established curriculum guidelines.

Classroom/Laboratory Management

Manage classroom/laboratory environments to ensure a conducive learning atmosphere.

Curriculum Development

Develop, monitor, and revise curriculum to maintain course effectiveness and relevance.

Resource Management

Manage equipment, supplies, and materials necessary for instructional activities.

Student Assessment

Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback to support their academic growth.

Student Advising

Advises students on academic matters and provides guidance to support their educational journey.

Collaboration:

Collaborate with advisory committees, colleagues, and industry partners to enhance program effectiveness.

Meeting Participation

Attend departmental and institutional meetings to contribute to academic planning and decision-making.

Promotion and Recruitment

Promote educational programs, participate in student recruitment efforts, and support initiatives to retain students.

Student Support

Support student organizations and activities to enrich their educational experience.

Industry Engagement

Develop and maintain relationships with business and industry partners to facilitate student opportunities and program growth.

Evaluation and Professional Development

Complete program evaluations, engage in continuous professional development, and stay current in the field. Additional Duties

Perform other related duties as assigned to support the overall mission and objectives of the institution. Qualifications

Must have one (1) of the following qualifications:

Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in Interior Design or Architecture Associate's degree (AAS/AA) in Interior Design and a Bachelor's degree in any discipline Associate's degree (AAS/AA) in Interior Design and seven (7) years (14,000 hours) of experience and training, and

one (1)

year of Supervision/Management in Interior Design. Occupational Experience Requirements

Must have a minimum of three (3) years (6,000 hours) of experience as an Interior Designer. In addition,

one (1)

of the following must be met:

At least one (1) year of work experience as an Interior Designer within the last five (5) years Two (2) years of teaching Interior Design coursework at the post-secondary level within the last five (5) years Note: One (1) year of teaching experience is equivalent to two (2) semesters full-time or four (4) semesters part-time, per State of Wisconsin Legislature Administrative Code TCS 3.04. Standards of Teaching Excellence

Understanding Students and Fostering Student Success, Classroom Management, Planning/Organization, Content Mastery and Currency, Teaching Methodology, and Assessment of Student Learning Professional Contributions Essential Technology

Experience with an Email system (Gmail, Outlook),Telephone - Experience with a voice mail system, and Computer - Experience with Microsoft Office Suite/Google Essential Supportive Technology

Experience with or willingness to learn the following supportive technologies:

Online Information Management Systems - Experience with INFOnline or other online information management systems used for student advising, student programs, grading, class schedules and rosters Blackboard - Experience with Blackboard or other web-based course - management systems Technology-based Instruction - Experience with technology-based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology Emerging Technologies - Experience with emerging technologies (eg. social networking applications) Supplemental Information Hours

This position is a part-time faculty pool position. Assignments and schedule will depend on course availability. Work schedule may vary and could include in person, online, hybrid, evening, and weekend teaching assignments. Salary

starting hourly wage for all part-time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching. Part-time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time which is equivalent to $70 per hour. This starting hourly wage of $40 an hour is non-negotiable Application Materials & Requirements:

Interview

As part of the interview process, selected candidates are required to prepare and present an interactive theory lesson and simulated teaching demonstration lasting 10 minutes of the overall interview time, which may be conducted in-person or virtually.

PART-TIME FACULTY/EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT- Part-time employees pay a higher percentage of the premium than full-time employees. HEALTH INSURANCE:

MATC offers a choice between two medical insurance plans. See below for plan types: 1- UMR High Level PPO 2- UMR Low Level PPO

DENTAL INSURANCE:

MATC offers a traditional group dental plan through Delta Dental.

Annual maximum per covered person is $2,500; plan covers preventive, routine, restoration, and orthodontics for dependents up to age 19.

GROUP TERM LIFE INSURANCE:

MATC offers group life insurance benefits through Symetra Provident Insurance with active assignment and is fully paid for by the College. The amount of insurance is $15,000. The benefit is doubled in the event of accidental death.

RETIREMENT BENEFITS:

If you are employed for greater than 12 months and meet the minimum hours requirement for participation in the WRS pension system, you will be notified of your eligibility. The College currently pays the full cost of the employer contribution (6.9%), and the employee pays the full part of the employee contribution of 6.9% of salary. There is a five year vesting period requirement in order to qualify for any employer contributions made on the employee's behalf.

FLEXIBLE SPENDING PLANS:

MATC offers eligible employees the opportunity to participate in both Health Care and Dependent Care flexible spending accounts administered through UMR.

SICK LEAVE BENEFITS:

Sick leave is earned based on one times the weekly workload per semester. The maximum hours accumulation is 640 hours.

VACATION BENEFITS:

Vacation is earned based on the length of service and hours worked each pay period. (Not available for Instructors)
