who are ready to build a rewarding future. The HR Coordinator/Payroll Specialist provides outstanding onsite service delivery to various academic client sites and educators in metro Detroit. This is a critical role to academic client sites as the role is the key link to ensuring that all HR administrative functions are executed with excellence. The HR Coordinator/Payroll Specialist will process payroll with accuracy and support employee onboarding, orientation, employee care, benefits, and compliance administration, HRIS processes, utilization, and reporting.
Essential Duties and Job Requirements:
ACCOUNTABILITY:
Timley and accurate payroll maintenance and deductions
Well-executed payroll, processing, and quality control processes deliver accurate results with few manual adjustments required
Collaborate daily with Engage PEO HR operations team to deliver HR administrative functions
Provide clear, constant, and transparent communication to client leaders and internal team members while maintaining confidentiality
Respond to client inquiries within 24 hours and assist the client's HR team in meeting the same response time for employee questions and concerns
Efficient processes within HR administration and HRIS
PAYROLL CORE FUNCTIONS – 40% of Job Responsibilities:
Payroll maintenance and deductions
Bi-weekly payroll processing
Follow payroll quality control processes
Assist employees with tax withholding, W2 and payroll questions, retrieving pay stubs, timeclock utilization and other payroll related support needs
Work with client to ensure payroll and timeclock processes are followed by all and payroll deadlines are met
HR COORDINATOR CORE FUNCTIONS – 60% of Job Responsibilities:
Operate efficiently within several technology platforms
Follow all standard operating procedures and policies
Support benefit administration, enrollment, and life event changes
Assist the client HR team with new employee screening, verification, offer letters, onboarding, and orientation
Work with Engage PEO HR operations team on leave of absence, worker’s compensation, unemployment management, employee care, HRIS and timeclock utilization, processes, and reporting
Other Skills & Responsibilities:

WORK LOCATION & TRAVEL:
Work location is onsite at academic client sites within metro Detroit
A minimum of a 2-week new hire training will be held at our Michigan office in Grand Rapids
Occasional travel to Grand Rapids, MI for quarterly trainings and other company in-person functions
Minimum Qualifications:
4-year degree in Human Resources or Business Administration
1-5 years' experience in a Human Resources professional setting
1-5 years' experience in payroll, HRIS, ATS, time and labor platforms, employee onboarding, and benefit administration
COMPENSATION:
The salary range for this position is listed below. However, you should know that the salary range may vary based on regional location, the candidate’s skill, and relevant experience. In addition, some positions may include a form of bonus or other incentive compensation, which would not be included in this salary range.
Annual Salary
Range: $60,000-$65,000
