Role Profile

Position Summary

The Website Merchandiser is a non-exempt position responsible for building and maintaining product listings on the University Co-op's website. This role uses data-driven insights, including sales performance, inventory levels, and user behavior to strategically merchandise catalogs and categories. The Website Merchandiser also monitors out-of-stock, low-inventory, discontinued, and pre-order items to ensure the site remains accurate, shoppable, and up to date for customers.

Oversee and optimize product listings, inventory accuracy, and merchandising details on the Co-op website

Build and publish new products with accurate images, descriptions, pricing, and metadata Monitor inventory levels to proactively flag and manage out-of-stock, low-stock, discontinued, and pre-order items Ensure consistent product tagging and categorization to support site search, filters, and SEO Perform regular audits of live product listings to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies quickly Strategically merchandise catalogs and categories, highlight key items, and optimize product placement Collaborate with buying and creative teams to align product setup with marketing priorities and brand standards

Maintain and merchandise catalogs and categories utilizing data and reporting to make merchandising decisions

Use sales reports, inventory data, and web analytics to make informed decisions on category placement and product prioritization Refresh category pages regularly to highlight seasonal items, key product, new arrivals, and bestsellers Optimize product sort order and placements to improve conversion and customer experience Identify underperforming products or categories and recommend adjustments to improve performance Support promotional efforts by updating featured products, limited-time offers, and campaign-specific assortments

Knowledge, Abilities & Experience for Success:

High School Diploma or GED required; Certification in Marketing, Merchandising, or eCommerce is a plus 3+ years of experience in eCommerce merchandising or digital retail. Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data, web analytics, and inventory reports to make informed merchandising decisions Proficient in managing product listings, categories, and collections on eCommerce platforms (Shopify, BigCommerce, etc.) Excellent communication in both verbal and written form. Physical Demands:

Substantial movements (motion) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers in a repetitive manner. Continuous sitting, standing, walking, using stairs, hearing, talking, bending, crouching, and working closely with others. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, pull, or otherwise move objects Work Environment:

Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation. Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic). Indoor and outdoor work environment with occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather. Onsite, with flexibility for hybrid on occasion, hours of work are Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings and/or weekends during peak periods.
