Job Summary:
The quality control inspector is responsible for inspecting and verifying that steel components meet specified design, code, and fabrication requirements at structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication shops before they are delivered to the job site.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Inspection of Fabrication:
Check the layout, fit up, and sizes for compliance with shop drawings and specifications.
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and radiographs
Monitor welding, bolting, coating, and other finishing processes.
Check the delivery tickets while loading the materials to the truck before delivery.
Verify that fabrication meets AISC Code of Standard Practice and applicable AWS welding codes.
Perform visual inspections.
Inspect grade, shape and thickness of incoming material
Identify non-conforming material
Review incoming consumables and paint are in proper condition
Confirm proper gages are used to measure weld sizes
Monitoring the use of equipment to ensure it is safe and discard any that do not meet requirements
Keeping measurement equipment operating accurately by following calibration requirements and calling for repairs
Inform about the nonconformance situation shop manager
Reviewing blueprints and specifications to compare to produced goods
Reject or accept incoming materials
Tag non-conforming material after inspection
Separate non-conforming material
Assist in Internal Audits related to Quality and Safety
Help prepare for and participate in AISC certification audits.
Lead and maintain quality control systems
Support or lead AISC certification processes
Ensure use of calibrated tools during fabrication and inspection
Documentation & Reporting:
Recording inspection results by completing reports, summarizing re-works and wastes and inputting data into Procore
Create and keep the non-conformance logs.
Track material traceability and ensure proper documentation.
Submit safety forms as required by the safety manager
Work closely with production and other related departments to resolve discrepancies or issues.
Involve teamwork and continuous improvement efforts.
Guide the production team on quality control measures to improve product excellence
Perform and maintain health and safety rules for a safe work environment.
Follow the safety manager’s instructions and ensure the standards and procedures are complying with OSHA and company-specific safety procedures.
Report to the safety manager regarding any incidents.
Qualifications:
Minimum high school degree or equivalent ()
Bilingual (Spanish) - (Required)
Strong attention to detail, and experience in steel fabrication
Experience with blueprints, shop drawings, and precision measuring equipment
Minimum 1 year of a quality control inspection role
Communication and organizational skills
Knowledge of quality control
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Work Environment:
