Since 1946, Holy Family Parish has been a vital and dynamic Catholic presence in Stow, helping families grow in their relationship to the Lord. From our humble beginnings borrowing space in a local high school to a large thriving parish today, we have been blessed over the years with generous parishioners, dedicated priests, and committed teachers and staff. Our staff, teachers, clergy, and volunteers are committed to helping each other grow in holiness and serve the spiritual needs of our parishioners and larger community. We are also a part of the larger Catholic community, the Diocese of Cleveland and the global Roman Catholic Church - assisting, as needed, those institutions in fulfilling the mission of Jesus Christ in the world today. A Custodian at Holy Family Parish is responsible for the cleaning, maintenance, and care for physical assets and spaces. She or he is responsible for ensuring a welcoming and safe environment for visitors, parishioners, students, and staff to grow in their discipleship with the Lord. The Custodian will report to the Facilities Manager and be a constructive member of a team of individuals dedicated to caring for the grounds and buildings of the parish. The Custodian will:
• Provide general maintenance support to the Facilities Manager for assigned tasks. • Clean spaces and rooms throughout the parish to ensure that they are welcoming and functioning for staff, visitors, students, and parishioners. • Assist with the landscaping and litter clean-up of parish grounds to provide safe and inviting spaces for the community. • Conduct light repair work for HVAC, plumbing, or electrical systems as needed. • As needed, maintain paint coatings for interior and exterior walls and spaces throughout the property. • Assist with event set up, including the removal of tables and chairs, plus post event clean up • Additionally, be available for other duties as assigned by the Pastor or Facilities Manager
Physical Demands
Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs and work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment. Must be able to position one-self to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics and tunnels. Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move up to 50 pounds occasionally Must be able to respond quickly to sounds. Must be able to see and respond to dangerous situations. Must be able to safely climb ladders while carrying up to 40 pounds. Must be able to work in cold environments and on concrete floors. Must be able to work outside in any weather condition Must be able to shovel snow as needed Must be able to bend, lift, and move objects like furniture
Qualifications • Minimum of a high school diploma • 1 - 3 years of experience in a janitorial/custodian role • Some training or significant experience in a relevant trade • A cheerful disposition and a strong desire to provide clean and safe spaces for people to meet, pray, and socialize • Ability to work flexible hours that may include evenings or weekends as needed
