Histotechnologist III

We're seeking a Histotechnologist III who will support Emory Healthcare's mission of clinical care, education, and research by demonstrating the core values of excellence, caring, and integrity. This individual: Performs routine or complex histologic procedures to assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment while upholding the values of the organization. Dedicated to sectioning recuts and pulling unstained slides specific to Immunohistochemistry (IHC) stain requests, maintaining control blocks/slide inventory for IHC stains, and running IHC stains via automated instrumentation. May accession tissue specimens; prepares routine specimens for fixation in automatic processors. Embeds and sections specimens using a microtome. Affixes tissue to slides, stains, cover slips, and labels slides. Maintains a reference system of control blocks and slides for use in special studies. Prepares fixative and staining solutions according to established laboratory procedures. May perform frozen section microtomy. Assists in the formulation and revision of departmental policies and procedures. Leads staff and provides input to employee performance; communicates goals and standards. Assists in developing, implementing and revising histologic policies and procedures. Performs other related duties as required. Experience Preferred: Mohs experience Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma, Bachelor's degree preferred but not required. Five years of relevant experience with supervisor/lead experience preferred. Certification as HTL (ASCP) or certification as HT(ASCP).
