Medical Technologist IJob no: 536153 Work type: Staff Full-Time Location: Main Campus (Gainesville, FL) Categories: Veteran's Preference Eligible, Health Care Administration/Support Department:29081100 - MD-PATH - UF PATH LABSClassification Title:Medical Technologist IClassification Minimum Requirements:Licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in one of the specialty areas to which the position is allocated.Job Description:Perform laboratory testing: genetic testing, including oncology testing, infectious disease testing, and clinical trial testing.Participate in the Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory maintenance of all procedures and documentsrequired as part of good laboratory practice including quality control and quality assurance.General lab maintenance, procedures essential manager, including ordering lab supplies andmaintaining equipment/facility records.Miscellaneous laboratory duties (i.e., lab meetings and communications, SOP writing, etc.)necessary to complete previously described functions.Expected Salary:Starting salary is between $28.80 - $31.00 per hourRequired Qualifications:Licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in one of the specialty areas to which the position is allocated.Preferred:The preferred candidate must have a minimum of a Baccalaureate degree in biochemistry, biology, or arelated field with at least 3 years of experience with molecular biology techniques in a research or clinicallaboratory. The candidate must be either licensed as a Medical Technologist or is expected to becometemporarily licensed in Molecular Pathology based on eligibility under Chapter 483, Part III, FloridaStatutes.Desired skill set includes DNA and RNA extractions, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), real-timequantitative PCR, sequencing (Sanger or NGS) and electrophoresis. Experience with molecular biologysoftware, instrumentation, and cell biology procedures is advantageous; however knowledge of basiccellular and molecular biology is required. The ability to work independently, analyze and present data,multitask, and maintain close communication with the Supervisor/Director is required.
