Primary responsibilities for this position include: performing dental radiologic procedures for the University of Florida College of Dentistry (UFCD) and Shands clinics, including undergraduate, graduate, resident, and faculty clinics. The incumbent will troubleshoot hardware and software; assist, instruct, and monitor all students in dental radiography procedures, including use of equipment and computer imaging programs/hardware, deliver instruction in proper radiation hygiene and infection control. Duties also include, sterilization of instruments, as well as and energize and de-energize equipment in the morning and evening as assigned by Clinic Manager or immediate supervisor and oversee quality assurance procedures for the radiology clinic.Essential Functions: Perform dental radiologic procedures (including taking routine dental films) for the UFCD, including undergraduate, graduates, residents, and faculty clinics. Participate in all clinical activities under the Clinic Manager's supervision. Assist Program Director with quality assurance procedures required for our CBCT units daily. Oversees daily testing of quality assurance of multiple CBCT units and address any issues with Program Director regarding unit performance. Operate and maintain Kodak 9000 cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) system; scan patients requiring a high-resolution limited field of view. Interact with vendor for online upgrades and troubleshooting. Collect/distribute all reported CBCTs and compact discs (CD) to the appropriated departments and doctors. Maintain patient database, managing all patient data for reporting and archiving in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPPA) standards.Clinic Information Technology (IT) liaison; troubleshoot hardware and software problems. Communicate with IT department regarding all imaging equipment and software. Assists in maintaining the cleanliness and serviceability of radiology units.Assist, instruct, and monitor all students during their dental radiology procedures, including the proper use of equipment and computer imaging programs and hardware, radiation hygiene and barrier techniques, and infection control. Provides step by step instruction to dental students on how to take and read/interpret radiographs during clinical rotations. Organizes clinical teaching during rotation as the main primary clinical teacher for dental students within the radiology clinic. Acts as Clinical Service Representative for Radiology Clinic by greeting patients, confirming patient authorizations, scheduling new and existing patient appointments including interclinic referrals. Answers telephone inquiries from patients and others.Perform start-up and shut-down procedures for equipment in the morning and evening, as assigned by the Clinic Manager or immediate supervisor.
