JOB SUMMARY:
Hixson Metal Finishing is seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing various mechanical equipment and systems including motor controls, electrical components, plumbing systems, pumps, and fabrication tasks. The Maintenance Technician must demonstrate proficiency in troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance tasks. This role requires flexibility in work hours, a commitment to safety protocols, and a positive attitude.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Follow all safety policies and procedures.
o Complete maintenance orders in accordance with production schedule.
o Perform maintenance and repair tasks on mechanical equipment, motor controls, electrical systems, plumbing fixtures, and pumps.
o Inspect and listen to machines to identify malfunctions and determine appropriate repairs.
o Disassemble machinery to access and repair problem areas.
o Set up and operate mechanical equipment and small hand tools for machine and equipment repair.
o Fabricate parts and components as needed for repairs and maintenance.
o Collaborate with other team members and departments to ensure efficient operation of equipment and systems.
o Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities.
o Operate forklift and other mobile equipment as required for maintenance tasks and material handling.
o Utilize technical manuals, blueprints, and diagrams to assist in troubleshooting and repairing complex machinery and systems.
o Perform preventative maintenance tasks according to established schedules to ensure optimal functionality of equipment and prevent breakdowns.
o Adhere to company policies and procedures regarding safety protocols, equipment usage, and workplace conduct.
o Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
o Ability to read and write in English.
o Ability to prioritize and work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
o Proven experience in maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment, electrical systems, plumbing, and pumps.
o Proficiency in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
o Ability to operate forklift and other mobile equipment safely and efficiently.
o Flexibility with work hours including off-shifts and weekends as needed.
o Positive, can-do attitude with excellent attendance and punctuality.
o Lead by example, demonstrating best practices in technical skills.
o Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
o Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
o Ability to stand and/or walk on your feet for extended periods of time
o Must pass a drug test and criminal background check
o Ability to lift and move 50 pounds without mechanical assistance
SKILLS:
o Bilingual (English/Spanish).
EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
o High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
o Minimum of five years industrial maintenance experience .
o Technical degree a plus.
