Job Description
Summary of Performance Expectations:
Performs a variety of clerical and support functions relating to the control, preparation, and delivery of pharmaceutical products. In addition to the requirements of Pharmacy Technician II, the Infusion Pharmacy Technician encompasses routine hazardous drug sterile compounding, staff training on hazardous drug sterile compounding, maintenance and monitoring of the sterile compounding suite, drug procurement and inventory management for the Infusion Center.
Education & Credentials:
Required
High School diploma; registered with NC BOP; Certification from the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPhT) and maintains 20 hours of Continuing Education in pharmacy field every two years with at least five hours directly related to sterile compounding and/or hazardous drug handling; satisfactorily demonstrated competency in the following areas upon completion of 90 day orientation: Electronic health record, IV solution compounding and related equipment, automated dispensing medication system and associated applications, Controlled-Substance safe, RFID kit tracking system, packaging systems and materials. Successful completion of ASHP Sterile Compounding Certificate or equivalent and a PTCB approved Hazardous Drug Management Certification within six months of start date.

Work Experience:
Required
One year of sterile compounding experience within the hospital pharmacy setting. Given training and on-the-job experience incumbent should be proficient in the basic aspects of the job within three months of employment date.
Preferred
Three years' experience with sterile compounding including hazardous drug handling as a pharmacy technician in a hospital pharmacy setting.
