Day Shift - 7.5 Hours (United States of America) The Histology Tech - 1. Performs histologic techniques: 2. Processes tissues: manual, microwave and automatic 3. Embeds different types and sizes of tissues 4. Sections different types and sizes of tissues in preparation for stain 5. Stains: routine, special, and immunohistochemical staining for confirmatory reasons 6. Cover slips stained tissue sections for archival purposes 7. Labels stained slides for proper identification and diagnostic purposes 8. Prepares and maintains reagents and equipment 9. Performs cutting and staining of frozen section specimen10. Performs cytological techniques if assigned within the shift:11. Processes the specimen by the centrifuge12. Prepares smears of cytology specimens for microscopic examination13. Performs Papanicolaou Stain and Diff Quick Stain on smears14. Prepares cell blocks15. Files and retrieves blocks and slides16. Quality control and Quality assurance activities17. Chemical supplies inventory18. Manages chemical and biological wastes19. Morgue coverage if needed20. Performs other duties as necessary for efficient operation of the department At least 1 year experience in a Histology Laboratory, preferred. This may include completion of an ASCP education program. NYS Licensed Laboratory / Histology Technician - Required.
