Deputy Treasurer-Cashier

Under the supervision of the Deputy Treasurer - Mortgage and Payment Supervisor, the Deputy Treasurer - Cashier is responsible for the accurate collection of cash/checks/credit card payments, processing of those tax payments, and maintaining an accurate and balanced window. In consideration of the continuous contact with the general public, this position must maintain a professional demeanor at all times and in all situations. Responsibilities include: Providing customer service to walk-in customers by collecting tax payments, processing vendor's and cigarette licenses, and county pay-ins. Answering questions regarding applicable tax and explaining available programs including, but not limited to, escrow and delinquent payment plans, remission of penalty forms when applicable, and homestead options. Providing customer service to call-in customers by answering phones, providing accurate information, researching issues, and responding to inquiries with the same program options as above. Processing mail, address changes, and returned mail. Performing other duties and projects as assigned by the supervisor and/or Chief Deputy Treasurer, such as creating penalty letters for delinquent accounts, assisting with special projects, and supporting the delinquency department. Minimum qualifications: High School Diploma or GED 1-2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Above average mathematical, financial, and accounting skills Ability to use an adding machine and reconcile a cash drawer Proficient in word processing and accounting software Effective oral and written communication skills Ability to organize and work efficiently under time constraints Knowledge of Tyler EAT system for real estate billing and collection processes;
