The Electric Line Troubleshooter represents a journey-level role within the Electric Line Technician field. This role encompasses extensive expertise, competencies, and practical exposure to troubleshooting issues within the Roseville electric distribution system and services to electric utility customers. The responsibilities include autonomous execution of electrical repair duties on distribution and service lines, proficient execution of distribution switching operations, and the ability to manage customer service disconnections and reconnections. Furthermore, this position assumes the essential responsibility of being the first responder to emergency calls, adeptly investigating and rectifying the root causes behind disruptions in the electrical distribution system and customer power outages. The role demands regular availability for on-call duty during after-hours periods and could also involve participation in crew-based assignments. Individuals in this role are required to reach the Electric Operations Yard, located at 2070 Hilltop Circle in Roseville, within a 30-minute window when responding to calls.

Two years of responsible experience performing duties similar to an with the City of Roseville.

Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, GED or higher level degree and completion of a recognized power line apprenticeship program. License and Certificate
Possession of a valid California class A driver's license by date of appointment.
Possession of First Aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificates by date of appointment.

Final appointment is contingent upon a check of past employment references, passing a City-paid fingerprint check, and depending on the position applied for, a pre-employment medical exam, drug and alcohol screening test, credit check, license and/or education verification, psychological examination, and/or an extensive Police Department background check process. Some positions require the clearance of a comprehensive Police Department (PD) background check within 12 months of appointment. The City may appoint candidates to positions prior to clearing the extensive Police Department background check, and in those circumstances the candidate will be advised in advance that security access in the information technology systems will be limited to non-PD related systems until PD clearance is received, and if the candidate ultimately does not clear the PD background it will result in release from City service without appeal rights, in accordance with Personnel Rules 3.04.050.
