General Trades Estimator Location: Beloit, WI
Overview: The Staff Pad has partnered with Corporate Contractors, Inc in Beloit, WI, to find anexperienced and detail-oriented
General Trades Estimator
to join their team in Beloit, WI. This position is responsible for reviewing blueprints, developing detailed cost estimates, managing subcontractor bids, and ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all pre-construction pricing efforts. The Estimator works closely with the General Trades Manager and plays a key role in the planning and success of commercial construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Attend project kickoff meetings and client consultations
Read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and specifications
Perform detailed material take-offs for a variety of scopes including framing, siding, finishes, doors/hardware, insulation, and cabinetry
Develop and maintain scopes of work, proposals, and bid packages
Solicit and negotiate bids from subcontractors and vendors
Utilize estimating software and maintain accurate pricing assemblies
Review and present estimates to the General Trades Manager for final approval
Maintain and update subcontractor/vendor databases
Research materials, products, and methods to improve efficiency and project value
Participate in ongoing professional development and industry training
Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement
Enter daily time in the timecard app and attend staff meetings as required
Travel up to 50% to project sites or other company locations
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required; technical or trade education
Minimum 5 years estimating commercial framing or general trades projects
At least 6 years of blueprint/specification reading and design understanding
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience as a carpenter or foreman
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word); estimating software and Bluebeam
Strong math, reasoning, and organizational skills
Excellent verbal and written communication
Valid driver’s license and insurance required per company policy
Knowledge of relevant building codes and construction regulations (Federal, State, NFPA)
Additional Skills:
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and shifting priorities
Strong independent judgment and problem-solving ability
Professionalism in appearance, communication, and behavior
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Physical Demands & Work Environment: Must be able to operate standard office equipment and occasionally visit construction sites. Job requires frequent sitting, computer use, and occasional lifting of materials up to 25 lbs.
