Engagement Specialist Supervisor
The Engagement Specialist Supervisor will assist with the management of gallery staff and programming within gallery spaces at the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites. Incumbent will also be assigned to create detailed schedules and be manager on duty for museum admission hours and special events/evenings. The Engagement Specialist Supervisor will act as manager on duty and implement all Sunday event programming including, but not limited to, Sensory Friendly Afternoons. Incumbent will also be assigned as needed within the galleries to engage and interact with museum visitors, assist with visitor questions and concerns, conduct demonstrations and activities, and monitor artifacts and exhibit components.
Responsibilities:
Assist with creation and distribution of staff schedules
Research, plan, and facilitate activities within gallery spaces
Be manager on duty and supervise gallery staff in absence of Gallery Manager
Be manager on duty and implement all Sunday event programming, including Sensory Friendly Afternoons
Work with the Gallery Manager and Director of Interpretation to develop and implement goals, objectives and learning outcomes for gallery programming
Manage customer complaints, incidents, and accidents, taking the lead in emergency situations and safety issues
Enhance the visitor experience in the museum by engaging and interacting with visitors within the galleries, assisting with visitor questions and concerns, and facilitating activities and demonstrations within galleries and throughout museum, as needed
Train and oversee volunteers who present museum programming within galleries
Provide excellent customer service to daily visitors, students, educators, and parents
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
High School diploma/GED; Working towards degree in a related major supplemented by relevant work experience preferred
Experience working with families and adults in an informal and/or formal environment
Supervisory experience preferred
Must be comfortable working independently and demonstrate initiative
Strong presentation, communication and customer service skills and collaborative work ethic
Schedule Requirements:
Ability to work Wednesday through Sunday*, with certain early and late hours required. Sundays are required.
$18.24 per hour, up to 29 hours a week, depending on availability.
This position would report to Gallery Program Manager.
Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $18.24/hr but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
