Position Summary:

The FAI Set-Up Technician is responsible for preparing and supporting first article inspections to ensure that manufactured parts meet all customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements. This includes setting up jobs for FAI runs, coordinating with engineering and quality teams, and performing verifications to support the release of parts for production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare and set up jobs for First Article Inspection in accordance with AS9102 standards or customer-specific requirements.

Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production to ensure correct documentation, tooling, and materials are in place before initiating FAI.

Verify part setup, dimensions, and visual compliance against drawings and specifications.

Collect and organize all supporting documentation including job travelers, inspection sheets, certifications, and material traceability.

Assist Quality Inspectors and Engineers in completing FAI documentation packages.

Identify and resolve issues before or during the FAI process, escalating when necessary.

Perform basic dimensional inspections using standard measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.).

Maintain a clean and organized FAI area and ensure that all tools and gages are calibrated and in working condition.

Support continuous improvement by identifying potential process improvements related to FAI flow and setup.

Follow all safety, quality, and company policies and procedures.

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or training .

Minimum 2 years of experience in manufacturing or quality control, preferably in aerospace or defense.

Experience with First Article Inspection and AS9102 documentation is highly .

Skills and Competencies:

Strong understanding of blueprints, GD&T, and part specifications.

Familiarity with inspection tools and equipment.

Excellent attention to detail and documentation accuracy.

Ability to read and interpret work orders, job travelers, and technical drawings.

Strong communication skills and ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic data entry.

Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 30 lbs occasionally.

Regular standing, walking, and use of hands to operate tools and equipment.

Use of vision to inspect parts and read documentation.

Work Environment:

Manufacturing and inspection environment with exposure to moderate noise levels.

Occasional interaction with production machinery, tooling, and materials.
