Job SummaryThe primary function of the Histologic Technician is the preparation of microscopic sections of human tissue for evaluation by a Pathologist. Specimens include surgical, autopsy, bone marrow and cell blocks. The process includes embedding, microtomy and routine staining of all specimens submitted by the Pathologist/Pathologists' Assistant.Essential FunctionsEmbeds and properly orients surgical, autopsy and cytology cell block tissue for microtomy. Cuts routine tissue specimens according to defined protocols. Performs routine and special staining of microscopic tissue sections.
