Torch.AI is seeking an HR Generalist to support our employees and company through a variety of HR functions, including onboarding, benefits administration, compliance, and employee relations. The ideal candidate is a highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive self-starter passionate about creating a positive employee experience.
The HR Generalist will work within Torch.AI’s Business Operations Department. This role will work closely with Torch.AI’s Chief of Staff, Chief Operating Officer, and Finance & Accounting team in building out and supporting company-wide employee lifecycle activities; however, because our Operations team is small, ideal candidates should still be comfortable working and carrying forward projects independently. Most of our employees are located and work from our Kansas City, KS office, although we also have employees distributed across the U.S.

The ideal candidate enjoys multi-tasking, has a passion for building relationships with employees, and is a follow-through doer who thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
3-7 years of experience in a generalist, coordinator, administration, or related HR role.
Working knowledge of HR practices and employment laws and regulations; experience with U.S. Government contracting, personnel, security compliance, a plus.
Experience with HRIS Systems (Rippling, a plus), Social Media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter / X, Medium, etc.), and Microsoft O365 (Word, PPT, SharePoint/OneDrive).
Familiarity with FMLA, ADA, EEO, and other labor law compliance.
PHR or SHRM-CP certification, a plus.
Experience with start-ups and/or defense contractors, a plus.

Responsibilities
Support a wide range of HR projects and initiatives:
HR Operations: onboarding, offboarding, administration, compliance.
Office Management: greet guests, including customers and partners; support office security/badging and 3rd party IT vendor services; vendor relations for office supplies and inventory.
Benefits: administration, enrollment, changes, communications, broker/vendor relations
Employee Relations: internal communications, engagement, first POC for employee concerns and questions
Compliance & Reporting: coordinate with other Operations teams, prepare leadership reports, audits and policy reviews
Culture: other HR-related projects and process improvements which support culture, wellness, and learning and development.
Conduct internal audit of HR-related gaps / opportunities and make recommendations (in collaboration with leadership) on upcoming projects and initiatives.
Serve as the main point of contact for employees' office-related needs, ensuring a comfortable and efficient work environment.
Contribute to the development of company culture and employee experience by developing and implementing office policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with company guidelines.
Organize employee engagement activities and events, fostering a positive and inclusive work culture.
Promote our company to new candidates as a best-in-class employer by providing support for HR processes such as job postings, candidate screening, and interview scheduling.
Handle HR inquiries and provide basic HR-related support to employees, redirecting complex matters to the appropriate HR personnel or company leadership.
Continually learn and grow your HR skills by staying up to date with the latest HR trends and best practices, recommending process improvements to enhance the employee experience.
