What You'll Lead & Deliver
Strategic Estimating Leadership
Prepare comprehensive estimates for complex commercial projects ($5M - $100M range)
Lead preconstruction services including value engineering and constructability reviews
Analyze plans, specifications, and contract documents for high-profile developments
Develop detailed quantity takeoffs using advanced estimating software and methodologies
Present estimates and recommendations to executive leadership and client teams
Preconstruction Excellence
Collaborate with architects and engineers during design development phases
Provide cost feedback and alternative solutions to optimize project budgets
Lead cost modeling and budget validation throughout design evolution
Participate in design meetings and constructability workshops
Develop project schedules and phasing strategies for complex builds
Team Leadership & Development
Mentor junior estimators and coordinators in advanced estimating techniques
Review and validate estimates prepared by team members
Establish and maintain estimating standards, procedures, and best practices
Lead estimating department training initiatives and knowledge sharing
Coordinate with project management, operations, and business development teams
Business Development Support
Participate in client presentations and proposal development
Build relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and trade partners
Attend industry events and maintain market intelligence on pricing trends
Support qualification and pursuit strategies for target opportunities
Provide market analysis and competitive intelligence to leadership
What You Bring as a Senior Professional
Proven Expertise
8+ years of commercial construction estimating experience
Successful track record estimating projects $10M+ in value
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
Deep knowledge of commercial construction methods, materials, and systems
Experience with office buildings, retail centers, healthcare facilities, or mixed-use projects
Technical Mastery
Advanced proficiency with estimating software (Sage Estimating, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, etc.)
Expert-level quantity takeoff skills for all construction trades
Strong understanding of subcontractor and supplier markets
Knowledge of building codes, zoning requirements, and permit processes
Experience with design-build and construction management delivery methods
Leadership & Communication
Exceptional analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail
Strong presentation and communication abilities for client interactions
Proven mentoring and team development experience
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight proposal deadlines
Strategic thinking with business development mindset
Industry Knowledge
Current market knowledge of labor rates, material costs, and equipment pricing
Understanding of local market conditions and subcontractor capabilities
Knowledge of sustainable construction practices and LEED requirements
Familiarity with various contract types (GMP, lump sum, cost-plus, etc.)
Active participation in industry associations (AGC, ASPE, etc.)
