DescriptionThe California Prison Industry Authority (CALPIA) is seeking to hire one student assistant in our Marketing Services/Promotions Unit. Under the close supervision and direction of the Staff Services Manager II, Marketing Services Branch, this position has the responsibility for assisting in the development of graphic design materials for the promotion of California Prison Industry Authority (CALPIA) products and services; creates, organizes, and assists in the production of product promotional materials; maintains the images on the Online catalog; consults with other staff in the development of information or projects requiring graphic materials.RequirementsConditions of EmploymentThis is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. The final work schedule will be determined by the supervisor. Additional Work ScheduleStudent Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 24 hours per workweek (Sunday - Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per workweek during breaks; (winter, spring, and summer).Minimum QualificationsGood interpersonal skills with all levels of staff.A team player with the ability to multi-task while maintaining efficiencies and accuracy.Willingness to learn and perform detailed work, be dependable, and work effectively both in written and oral form.Graphic design experience and working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is required. Preferred QualificationsIndividuals who are, or have been, a dependent child in foster care, a homeless youth or a formerly incarcerated youth as defined by Government Code section 18220 are encouraged to apply and will be given priority. Please note that prior to appointment, individuals claiming preference under one of these categories will be required to furnish documentation establishing their eligibility.Duties and Responsibilities Creates, organizes, and develops product brochures and promotional flyer's used in CALPIA's electronic catalog as well as various types of advertisement.Consults with Products Management Specialists, Operations staff and others in the development of promotional copy and graphic designs.Prepares camera-ready art or electronic media for printing. Processes necessary documents and oversees the press process to assure the completion of the printing process. Review and update content related to CALPIA's product catalog and website. Prepares graphic art, exhibit and other display materials for meetings, trade shows, the CALPIA Showroom and other presentations for the organization. Maintains files and a database of images and posters.Physical RequirementsSit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation.Working ConditionsWork is performed in an office environment.Application InstructionsPlease complete all fields of the employment application.
